The Canyon News traces its roots back to "The Stayer," which was the local newspaper started in Canyon, Texas in 1896. It was later renamed "The Randall County News" before becoming The Canyon News in the early 1900s.
The Canyon News is year after year recognized as one of the top twice weekly newspapers in Texas by both the Panhandle Press Association and Texas Press Association. Its mission is excellence in community journalism, covering the news that most affects the lives of residents of Canyon, Randall County and the Canyon Independent School District.
The Canyon News is a member of the Panhandle Press, Texas Press and National Newspaper associations.
